Serpentine Belt tensioner in 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager?

My brother noticed my serpentine belt tensioner is out from alignment and said there was no tension in it. Is this something that needs replaced and if so how long before it goes out and will it cause any damage? Just bought the van little over a week

Sounds like it's bushing is wornout. Replace it before a thrown belt causes damage.
