Every trainer who starts their journey must get their first, or starter Pokemon from the local professor. There are several different regions and therefore several professors.
This post is what I was going to work on yesterday morning before I got side-tracked by this topic. All in all, I think that post was a much more important use of my time.
When I chose my starter in my Pok?mon games I found that most of the time I would chose a fire starter. Examples: In Pok?mon Red, Blue, Fire Red, and Leaf Green I would always choose Charmander. In Pok?mon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver I would always choose Cyndaquil. In Pok?mon Ruby, Safire, and Emerald I would always choose Torchic.
