I have a personal interest in this, as the required 100,000 mile maintenance revelaed the extent of the problem in my 2000 Ford F-350. I had to replace the cylinder head. On a V-10, it ain't cheap!

I am breaking in a Chevy 350 which was rebuilt 2 years ago, the engine had never been started. I have made three 20 minute engine runs at 2,000 RPMs, changed the oil after each run. The engine sounds fine, runs strong, good oil pressure, and is smoking less and less each run as the rings begin to seat.
However, I am getting a significant amount of oil on the spark plugs and plug wire boots on cylinder #1, #3, and #5 and also oil dripping out the tailpipe. It appears the oil is coming through...
